Why no silicone oils?  Like mineral oil, the silicone oil that is the number one ingredient in commercial dry oil body sprays can block the pores on your skin. Such "unmodified silicones" evaporate quickly to create the feeling of dryness, they stay on or near the surface of the skin because its molecules are too big to physically enter past the upper living cells. They provide no nutritional benefit to your skin. (Silicone oils do, however, have a beneficial use: in hair serums to provide shine and detangle).

Our use of fractionated coconut oil (also known as light coconut oil) is a conscious choice in the creation of a product that is more natural and good for your skin, while retaining the qualities of non-greasiness that silicone oils offer. Fractionated coconut oil is a light, non-greasy, odorless oil that absorbs quickly into the skin, and is derived from heating coconut oil and removing the top liquid fraction with concentrated saturated fatty acids (hence the name "fractionated coconut oil"). We've also added Evening Primose Oil to our dry oil body spray, in order to give you the benefits of its well-known skin soothing and healing properties.
